John Wilks of Gloucestershire

I am looking for information about my great, great, great Grandfather John Wilks (Wilkes) who was born in abt 1825 in I believe Gloucester, John left Gloucester for Pontypool in Monmouthshire where in 1852 he married a Jane Thomas and had seven children where he worked as a coal miner, if anyone could help me out I would be very grateful this is all I really know about him.

It's difficult trying to find John pre marriage -as there are more than one John Wilks b.abt same time in Gloucestershire

Marriage cert would give father's name and occ (unless of course he was illegit) which would help in the search

I am also looking for John Wilks & Jane Thomas. I believe I have DNA and documented connections via his children William, Jane, Mary, Ruth and Elizabeth. I have some certificates but haven't yet ordered the marriage certificate for John and Jane.

I would be interested in collaborating.
