2x great grandfather's 2nd wife. Completed
« on: Friday 01 April 11 08:49 BST (UK) »
Hi
I recently found a second marriage for my 2x great grandfather Ephraim Fullwood. His first wife Lydia, died in June 1855.
He married Grace Fletcher in Crich in December 1855, I got this from FreeREG.

I can't find any other information, no children and no death record for Grace.
I know that Ephraim married again in Chesterfield in 1867, this was to my 2x great grandmother Phebe.

I would really like to know what happened to Grace. She must have died before 1861, as on that census Ephraim and his 3 children from his first marriage, are living with Ephraim's parents in Newbold Chesterfield.

Unless I am completely wrong and there were two Ephraim Fullwood's with father Isaac, living in Crich at that time.

Can anyone find Grace please?

cg.

Hi,

If you look on the 1861 Census, it states that Ephraim is Married, is there a possibility
that Grace was still alive 1861?

Is she visiting someone or are they separated?

Hi Spendlove,

I don't have access to the census at the moment, as my subsciption has run out but I will be visiting the library later today and will check the 1861 census then. Thank you for pointing it out to me as I hadn't noticed that before.

Thank you lizdb, I will check that ref, I have sometimes found Ephraim mistranscribed as Fullard. It could be her. I am making my list to check now, then off to the library.

Hi,

Is this your Grace Fletcher? Using info posted by lizdb for 1861 which states that Grace Fullard
was aged abt 37 born Loscoe and information from the marriage of 1855 which states her
Father was Joseph Fletcher a Farmer, then I think this may be her in the 1841 Census
HO107/188 Folio 11 Pg 16
Civil Parish -  Heanor
Loscoe Derbyshire

Fletcher  Joseph  64 Farmer
"            Rebecca 47
"            Joseph   24
"            GRACE    19
"            Sarah    17
"           Samuel    13
"           Able        12

This matches the entry for 1861 Grace Fullard.

There is a marriage in Nottingham 1883 of a Grace Fullard, On the 1891 Census RG12/2671 F 76 Pg 8
Beeston Nottingham we find

Phillips George   66              Nottinghamshire.
"          Grace      67 (1824)  Loscoe

Hi Spendlove

I think you may be right and it could be the Grace Fletcher I was looking for.
I have been to the library and still couldn't find a death for a Grace Fullwood/ Fullard, so it is possible that Ephraim and Grace separated as lizdb said and both later married again.
Thank you both for your help.
