Would love to be able to connect them to other Dempseys here but they all used same names over and over again. If you get any more details will see if I can get anything else for you.

Hi Aghadowey,

There used to be a Moira Dempsey who it was thought that she was related to this family of Dempseys but she died.  However, she had a family tree of the Dempseys going away away back generations.

Hope this helps

Kieran

I knew Moira quite well and yes she had the Dempsey family tree that had been done a number of years earlier on brown paper with pencil. All the Dempseys are probably related but the problem is linking them up.

Hi Agghadowey,

It looks like three of the Dempsey children died young.  This is what I found

Mark Dempsey, age 1, 1869 Coleraine registration district,  volume 11 page 304
Mary Jane Dempsey, age 0, Oct./Dec.1879 Coleraine registration district, volume 1, page 367
John Dempsey, age 31, July/Sept.1914 Coleraine registration district, volume 1, page 325

So with this that is 5 of the children accounted for

I already listed his death is 1869 (reply #11)

Mary Jane Dempsey, age 0, Oct./Dec.1879 Coleraine registration district, volume 1, page 367
sister Mary was born 1881

John Dempsey, age 31, July/Sept.1914 Coleraine registration district, volume 1, page 325
possibly

Actually, 4 of the 11 Dempsey children were dead by 1911.

Without appearing to hijack this thread, I too, have a Dempsey in my tree.

William Dempsey b abt 1894 and lived at Balnameen married a much younger woman,
Mary Taggart about 1946-50 but, sadly died after a tragic road accident in Feb 1965 in Birmingham.
(Knocked over and killed on a zebra crossing).

Don't know whether this has any relevance to the other Dempsey's in this thread but who knows?

Also my grandparents lived in Garvagh, (where my mother and her sister Mary were brought up)

James Hamilton b 1879 d abt 1955 buried? at Garvagh 1st. Presbyterian Church.
Emma Hamilton (wife) b 1897 d 1987 buried? St Pauls' C of I.
Emma was a cleaner at St Pauls for many years.

Kind regards

Jim

Do you know the name of William's parents? I can't see a William Dempsey the right age in 1901/1911 census.
