Unfortunately as with most businesses, once a photographic studio closed down its contents would have been either sold off or got rid of - in rare cases they might have been kept or donated to someone more interested in keeping them, such as a historical society, library etc.

I'd suggest searching the State Library of SA for starters, and see if they have any of the Mora Studios negs/prints or other stuff.  Are you trying to find out whether they took a photograph of one of your relatives?

Cheers

Hi Prue

I am helping out with the  Lost Diggers on Facebook and we have come across the fact that in 1920 there were 10,000 negatives still in existence.

Have looked at the State Library of South Australia and have come up empty so far. It would be wonderful if we could trace these photos down.

Any ideas?

Many thanks

Do you know where the figure of 10,000 negs in 1920 came from?  That might be a starting point for your search...

The only other things I can suggest would be the obvious stuff like checking with all the state institutions in SA (museum, archive etc.) then moving on to the local ones (Adelaide City archives for example) and trying to find them that way.  They may of course have gone into private hands which would make things more difficult  :-\

P.S.  Have move this topic to the Australia board for a wider audience  :)

George.A.Rogers seems to have been a seperate company Prue.I can only think that as they were all in competition they were all offering the same deals to soldiers.Which must mean many more negs somewhere possibly.

Hi

Slightly off topic but I cam across this sheet of WW1 soldiers and was wondering if they can be separated into single photos.

I think you are correct in that George A. Rogers was a competitor , but still the question remains , where did the photos go?
