Thankyou Huckleberry, I used to live in Meliden, near prestatyn. I have tried several avenues, but haven't been able to find out any info.

It is possible, but by no means certain, that Evelyn named her natural father on her 1946 marriage.  That certificate would in any event tell you what the "B" middle name was which may assist with tracing her.

I do have a letter that Evelyn wrote to her Uncle (my grandfather)  after her mother had died, saying that  she wasn't convinced that the person that brought her up as his daughter was her father. she asks for him to tell her if there was any truth in it,

Have you seen that the birth is about a year before her mother's marriage?
It's likely that there will be no father's name on the birth certificate.  And if she asked your grandfather for information, it's unlikely that anyone knows who the father was, unless it really was William Lucas and the parents married a bit late.

I have realised that, I'm told by a few family members they didn't think that Jack was her father including her siblings. one name I was told it could be is a George Sleeman born in Rhyl. but I can't find info on him at all.

If she were mine I'd be getting her 1946 marriage certificate. If you are really lucky it may even be that the "B" middle name is her natural father's surname, which was sometimes the case with children born out of wedlock. Even if it is not, the name may assist with identifying her birth.

Thankyou, I  think, will go with your advice an obtain her Marriage Cert, in the hope it helps me, the only name I can think of with "B" in my family tree is Brotherton which is the Maiden name of Evelyn's grandmother (Edith's Mother)

It may be that the name with the initial "B"   was added after mother and father got married.  Maybe when Mum and Dad got married they then asked the registrar to add the fathers name to Evelyns Birth Certificate.

Thankyou, I think I better order her birth cert aswell as her marriage cert. but I guess though, if Jack wasn't her father, then there won't be a name of the father on the birth cert. Jack from what I know of him didn't show any love for Evelyn, compared to what he did to her siblings. Who were definitely Jack's biological children
