Looking for information on a William Wakeman occupation gardener living in Bromsgrove Blackwell area around 1920s/30s married to Mary?  had a child called Dora.  Trying to find out date of death in particular.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Do know that he had a lot to do with the church.

The 1901 census shows a William Henry WAKEMAN, 43, domestic gardener b Bromsgrove, at Apesdale, Bromsgrove with wife Mary and children including Dora Maud (14).

1901 ref for the family: RG13/2799/96/28.

Birth reg for Dora Maud WAKEMAN, Dec qtr 1886 Bromsgrove 6c 373.

Is this likely to be the right family?

Possible death for WHW (though age is a little out): William H WAKEMAN aged 70, Dec qtr 1932 Bromsgrove 6c 238.

Thank you for your replies.  I think the William Wakeman who died in 1970 isn't the one I am looking for but is perhaps connected to the same family - many thanks Jan

avm228  thank you this must be our William Wakeman.  We don't know much more about him other than his wife may have come from Pembrokeshire and his daughter Dora married Arthur? Guest.  We believe he was a gardener but don't know if he worked for a big house or was a gardener to lots of places.

We do have this one image of him.

Mary's birthplace was given as Dale, Pembrokeshire in the 1901 census (when she was enumerated as aged 45).

Hi, noticed you are looking for info on William Wakeman, he was my great grandfather and was head gardener at Cadbury Bournville for many years, his son Robert Malcolm Wakeman was my late father's father who was Raymond Malcolm Wakeman.

Hello Wendy

William Wakeman was my husbands Great Granfather, William's daughter Dora was my husbands Grandmother. We only know a little about William, we know he married Mary (originally from Wales), and that he had lived in Blackwell near Bromsgrove although we think he may well have lived the last part of his life with Dora and Arthur Guest.  We knew he had been a gardener somewhere and was involved with the Church.  Do you know anymore about the family?
