EVA Family (Australia, South Africa, Bristol)

Hi all, I am researching the surname EVA, my Grandfather's name (Mothers side). In particular at the moment, my G'Uncle Percy. He moved to Bristol/Bath from Johannesburg SA 11/8/1910 'Galician' occupation 'amalgamator'. He married Rose BARRATT in early 1916 Somerset/Bath and I believe he returned to SA (Port Elizabeth) by 1935. Any assistance will be appreciated. Cheers

Percy Eva Age 19yr arriving in Melbourne from Capetown on the "Suevic"26/3/1906
He seems to have been in the British Army.

Unfortunately I had the info you both supplied but thank you again. At this stage my enquiries seem to prove fruitless from the UK and therefore I believe the answers I seek must come from within South Africa but how do you access those without paying??

I do know there is a large "Eva" contingency in the Devon/Cornwall area.  Have you widened your search?

Hi,
Thanks for the input. I have looked at Cornish records for Eva and found, I believe a dead end. Grace Eva, my GGGgrandmother I think was an only child. Her parents were Robert and Mary White (nee Smith) and I think Robert died soon after Grace was born in 1815. 1851 Census shows Grace, husband William plus children and mother Mary at 7 Lanner St., parish of Sithney, Helston. They emigrated shortly after this to Australia with William dying in 1853 leaving Grace to look after the family.

As he went from Australia to South Africa age 19 in 1906 and on his marriage he has the middle initial W, I wonder if this is a possible birth, and he was known as Percy?
