A charge could only be placed for attempted suicide, the criminalization of suicide I think involved the forfeiture of their goods. To many Christians today assisting a suicide is regarded as murder.

Which was abolished in 1870 as I posted.

Has any contact been made with the WAltham Abbey Historical Society? They should know whether any modern archaeology has taken place in this vicinity.

Can't wait to see if she finds anything, so so love for there to be illustrations!  ;D

A drawing of the curved knife might be specially significant for dating purposes, in the absence of excavation records, but what i really hope for is a later excavation done using modern i.e. the last 50 years excavation techniques, also if the excavation has been properly written up it would be helpful. That history is useful, but something of a gruelling trawl.

If we are lucky it MIGHT have been drawn to appear in an Antiquarian journal.
