Green Family Tarbolton
« on: Wednesday 13 April 11 16:04 BST (UK) »
So is anyone else on here connected to the Green Family of Tarbolton?  A lot of them were Joiners.  I am beginning to wonder are my mother and I the only ones searching this family? Though I doubt it

William Green and Elizabeth Hunter

children

Mary born 1802  (looks like birth entry says Mary green lawful daughter of William Green and Elizabeth Hunter in Carngillan ?? was baptized 9th January.  Was or is there such a place or estate as Carngillan in Tarbolton?
Isabella born 1812 (married William Pitt)
Hugh born 4 Nov 1807 Tarbolton (looks like Burnhouse Hall) (if that is Burnhouse Manor Hotel I have found via google all I can say is WOW)  he married Margaret Mcghee

Hugh and Margaret are my 3rd great grandparents

I have no other information on William Green and Elizabeth Huinter :-(  oh except that William was a ploughman / farm servant

As far as I can see Alexander Wilson's (b1873) father parents were James Wilson & Mary Harvey - Mary Harvey's parents were William Harvey and Ann Bryan as in the MI I quoted, but I could be wrong.

Hi Shadow the Green familyyou are looking for were joiners, they had a workshop at Drumley when my parents were first married they lived there with an aunt Jenny Green they were living there when I was born. There was also another aunt Emily Green who was married to David Campbell. Where the house was is now the Drumley Inn hope this info is of interest to you

Hi Cocklewok

Thank you for the information I have an Emily Green on my tree born 1885 to Hugh Green and Jessie Livingston, no Jennifer though.   So was Drumley inn where my ancestors lived?

Margaret Green who married Alexander Wilson would be the daughter of the above Hugh Green and Jessie Livingston am I correct?  I do have a Margaret born to them but not who she married. (I'm sure I had she married a Wilson, maybe I deleted it for some reason)
If this is her, her father Hugh Green is my Great Great Grand uncle, brother of my Great Great Grandfather James Green.

I can trace Green family back to William Green and Elizabeth Hunter but no further.  All I know are William and Elizabeth's names.  Oh and that William was a ploughman (Farm servant)

Sorry took so long to reply just had a baby girl September 2012 :-)
