Help to ID WW1 Soldier?
« on: Wednesday 13 April 11 20:10 BST (UK) »
Hello all,

Further to my query of two brothers who were both killed in the first world war...

 http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,525796.0.html

...i'm uploading a photograph of one of the boys - not sure whether this is Neil or Farquhar McKinnon.

Can anyone spot any clues at to what regiment this fellow might be in?

Is that the full picture? or have you cropped his feet...just that he maybe a mounted soldier the pants look to have a slightly different colouring so maybe jodhpurs?? If the full picture shows his boots then spurs maybe visible...the way the puttees are worn is also distinctive but not an expert on mounted troops.

I would agree with Ady, they are Jodhpurs and in an earlier post trevor has  Neil Mackinnon as Royal Horse Artillery/Royal Garrison Artillery, so possibly a driver.

Thanks James Ady & Trevor.  I will try to scan the shoulder and buttons this evening, at a higher res.
The picture isnt cropped, thats the full size of it so no chance of seeing the boots  :-\
