Can someone clarify the age of Emily Langridge in the 1861 census entry. Any idea what at nurse means?

Hello,

she is 1. I assume that 'at nurse' is similar to nurse child- rather like a foster child. Illegitimate children were often nurse children or perhaps if mother was widowed and had to work.

You may already know this but there is a likely candidate in Emily Dawson in 1871. Mother is Mary Ann and there is a possible marriage for George Dawson and Mary Ann Langridge in 1861.
