Repairs to a Family Bible
« on: Monday 18 April 11 22:15 BST (UK) »
My dad has an old Family Bible 1866 and it has seen better days! The cover is almost completely off and the front cover has come loose from the spine. How much can I expect to pay to get this repaired/restored? I have had one quote online from a local Edinburgh company of £150- does that sound about right?

Some 10 years ago a bookbinder in Bath charged £10 per inch just to rebind a cover, so given 10 years inflation etc. it may be right, but personally I would be happier with a face to face quotation as quoting on line he can't see for certain what he is expected to repair and would have to build in a margin to cover unknown factors.
