1861 Census lookup Melbourne- Complete
« on: Thursday 21 April 11 04:08 BST (UK) »
Some time ago I found this information posted. Can anyone tell me more about the statement about Baby Dorothy and who her grandparents were that she attende the wedding with?
Thanks

1861 Census –
Shown on a further page Dorothy DAWSON aged 12 months? She was staying in a lodging house on Quick Close, New York. It seems as if she is born to George and his previous wife, Dorothy, and has attended his wedding to Mary in the company of her grandparents. What happened to Dorothy, disappeared? Baby Dorothy unfortunately shows in the burial records, 3 years later in1864 aged 4.

Thanks Carole
Now I need to figure out how Dorothy Dawson (11 mths) is related to Dorothy Dawson wife of Edward Dawson.  Mrs. Dorothy passed away at child birth by the look of things but if the grandparents name were Hibbert I'm not sure what Dorothy's maiden name was. We thought it was Bowler as the marriage registration indicated. But now was Dorothy married before she married George Dawson. I have to find a way to figure this out.

A copy of her birth cert will probably save a lot of time and effort.  Once you have her parents names  it should make searching easier

Thanks Heywood
I see in 1851 Louisa is a Bowler and by Carols posting from 1861 she is listed as Hibbert. Interesting!
The plot thickens. So Louisa and Dorothy would be sisters. When Dorothy married she had a daughter Dorothy but passed away in child birth. The baby Dorothy passed away at the age of 4. Now I need to find out who or if Elizabeth Hibbard was previously married? I may need a birth record to solve this one.
