Robert Choyce Cooke of Mansfield Notts.
« on: Thursday 21 April 11 10:28 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find living relatives in Nottinghamshire.
I have found the death of Robert Choyce Cooke in Nov. 1992, age 80, reg. at Mansfield. He is definitely related, the 3rd in a row with that name.
He was born in Nottingham in 1912, and had a sister Mary, born 1909, to R. C. Cooke (2) and Priscilla Bradley.
RCC (2) was born 1884 Dublin, but No.1 was born Measham Derbyshire.
Hoping someone out there may know something.

Thanks Skewy.
In the 1901 Dublin Census I found Robert (1), Eliza & twins Robt (2) & William, 16 yrs. They were Baptists, (or rather, she was). She was his second wife.
In 1911 Eliza Jane lived alone, a widow, at York St. Mansion House. The census shows the original form.
She was married 30 years and had 9 kids but only 2 survived, twins Robt & Wm. By 1911, Robert snr was dead, and Robt (2) had married in Nottingham and had a daughter, Mary, b.1909. Robert (3) was born 1912.
Don't know what happened to William.
I have now ordered the Death Cert for Robt (3) d. 1992 Nott'ham. That should give an address and the name of the informant.

Hi Ken, I've seen the one on the 1911 census in nottinghamshire, but amazing another good match still in Dublin. Age, occupation, district living in etc.

Thanks again Skewy,
I've checked up on the entry in 1911 Dublin Census. That Robert was 25.
Ours was born 1884, so it's pretty close. His wife stated they had been married 9 years ! And they were Catholics. Yes, he was a house painter too.
But that is not our Robert. Census Day in both UK & Ireland was 2.4.1911.
In 1901 he was a coach painter, and his brother William was a house painter.
I have the cert for Robert's marriage to Priscilla Bradley on 12 Sep. 1908, and they are in the UK Census of 1911- Robt., Priscilla and Mary 2 yrs. Both events in Nottingham.
Robt (1) mar. Eliza Jane Evans in 4th qtr. 1878. His brother Arthur was a witness. Eliza Jane is in the Dublin 1911 Census, widow, alone, 2 children living
out of 9. Robert (1) had died in Dublin 1908.
Now I need to find out more about Robert & Priscilla's family in Nottinghamshire.

Thanks for that.
I did find a few useful things about other lines, but nothing new on the Cookes.

Hi Kenneth.
Robert Choyce Cooke was my Grandfather.
He lived in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.
He married Harriet May Tunnely and they had two children, one passed away shortly after birth. The other is my Mother who is Patricia Anne Cooke - now Hallam.
