Help finding William Thomas
« on: Friday 22 April 11 10:50 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

I wondered if anyone could help me trace my rellie William Thomas on the 1861, 1851 and 1841 Census?

I have him on the 1881 and 1871 census below:

1881

William Thomas, head, 39, coal minor, Llansamlet Swansea
Mary          ''     , wife,  40,                               ''
Ann           ''     , D,      15,                               ''
Margaret    ''     , D,      13,                               ''
Mary          ''     , D,      11,                , Llangyfelach Swansea
Catherine   ''     , D,       6,                 , Llansamlet Swansea
Elizabeth    ''     , D,       3,                                ''
William John ''   , S,     2mths,                          ''

1871

William Thomas, head, 29, collier       , Llansamlet Swansea
Mary          ''     , wife,  30,                               ''
Ann           ''     , D,        5,                               ''
Margaret    ''     , D,        4,                               ''
Mary          ''     , D,     9mths,           , Llangyfelach Swansea

Any help would be fantastic!  :)

Thanks

think you need to ascertain his Fathers name from the Marriage Cert - theres a few of his name (born) in Llansamnet in 1861 !

Or an even more roundabout route if there's multiple William to Mary marriages - would be to get a childs Birth Cert to find out Mary's maiden surname, and search for the marriage that way ....

Thanks Mort29

Yeah I thought I might have to go down that route as there's no children old enough on the 1871 census to be on the previous one. I've tried to match place names (addresses) but nothing concrete there either so far.

1881- they're in Coitgayr Fagwr Llangefelch

and

1871- they're in 1 Tyr Mawdy Cottages Llansamlet.
