3rd bedfordshire regiment
« Reply #36 on: Sunday 24 April 11 22:34 BST (UK) »
Could anyone tell me where the
3rd Bedfordshire Regiment was based between 1911 up to aug 1914?
He then transferred to the 1st Bedfordshire (before going out to war), how would they have gone about changing regiments?
Why did they change regiments?
He changed 4 times after enlistment.
Thankyou

Hi

I would have thought he would have been on a memorial in his home town.

Check the local hometown memorials, his local church and also if his parents lived in a different town check those as well.If he was married the widows hometown is also a possibility.
war memorials are notoriously hit or miss and inclusion on them is also baffling sometimes! if you can give the places he lived and was born we can point you to a few sites.

Can you Help, trying to find out more information on
Charles Edward Wright
Born about 1891
Lived in Ipswich, Suffolk
Enlisted 1915
I think first to the Suffolk Regiment then the Kings Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.
Have found war medals indicating a British and Victory Medal awarded.
Can find out anything else, did he survive the war????

Hi yes he survived the war, on the 3rd April 1921 he sent a letter advising that as he was expected to advise of any change of address, for receipt of his War medals, he had now moved from 14, Waveney Road, Ipswich to "Sunny Side", Wallace Road, Ipswich, his next of kin was Frederick William Wright.

Charles was 5 feet tall, with a 34 inch chest
His Regimental number was 22322 and he elisted at the age of 24 years and 3 months.
