Removals. Completed
« on: Wednesday 27 April 11 14:27 BST (UK) »
I need some advice please. I have found a removal on Yesterdays Journey, which I think could be my ancestors William and Mary Siddall / Siddal.
The removal is from Staveley Derbyshire, to Kimberworth Yorkshire in 1788.

I have read that these removals were back to the place they were last settled in or born in, and wondered if my William was born in Yorkshire.

They were married in January 1788 in Staveley, and their first child William, was christened in July 1796 in Staveley. Well the first one I have found.

Where would I find more details about this couple and the 8 years they were away from Derbyshire. Presuming they are the ones I am looking for?

The county records office/archive might have more information.

I've only come across one of these in my research - not the removal, but an objection.  My gt x 3 grandfather Robert Chowns and his wife and children were "removed and conveyed" from Stoke Poges in Bucks to Aston Rowant in Oxfordshire.  Aston Rowant complained and the magistrates decided Robert and his wife could stay in Stoke Poges.  The case was in the quarter sessions and I found a lot of info, names and ages of children, how much rent Robert paid, the state of the house they lived in, what his father-in-law was doing etc etc.
Chowns in Buckinghamshire
Broad, Eplett & Pope in St Ervan/St Columb Major, Cornwall
Browning & Moore in Cambridge, St Andrew the Less
Emms, Mealing & Purvey in Cotswolds, Gloucestershire
Barnes, Dunt, Gray, Massingham in Norfolk
Higho in London
Matthews & Nash in Whichford, Warwickshire
Smoothy, Willsher in Coggeshall & Chelmsford, Essex

Hi Jeuel

I will contact or visit the county records office, to see if they have any information about them. I hope I will be as lucky as you were.

Thank you for your help.
