Hi, just found out that my husband's grandfather and his brother from Kidderminster were British Home Children sent to Canada in 1896.
How I found them was in the outward passenger lists( ship was full of children)on the ancestry website. As long as you have their names you should be able to find them. If you do find them on any of the lists. Get ahold of Perry Snow( Calgary)on British Home Children website and he will hopefully find out where the children came to Canada and where they stayed.

Hi
have you tried searching the National Archives website?  A Kidderminster History Group transcribed some records from the workhouse a few years ago. I think they were from the relevant period.

Thank you everyone who has replied to me with helpful information and a very happy new year to you all. I have made some progress in my search and found my ancestors on the national archives site. a handwritten note by the matron lists all the children in the kidderminster workhouse in 1848 with personal details of each one. I was happy to read that my ancestor was very bright and sharp witted.  however, exciting this is it has got me no nearer to how and when they got to canada but its good to have made a step forward   :)

Hi

I wonder the information you have received from the workhouse are admission records, and wonder if there are any discharge records, that may give you more information.
