Hi Princess

There is a New Woll in the parish of Ashkirk, Selkirkshire in modern maps  :)

Interesting reference here:

...George Thorburn, New Woll, Ashkirk,. ready to go against the
French with gun and bayonet, etc.

www.archive.org/stream/upperteviotdales00olivrich/upperteviotdales00olivrich_djvu.txt

There are nine children showing on IGI in Ashkirk - www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true to parents George and Jane (Henderson) Thorburn, including the Margaret you mention.

George and Jane's marriage/banns show in May 1786 in Wilton, Roxburgh.

Monica  :)
