Mansons
« on: Saturday 14 May 11 17:15 BST (UK) »
Hi
I wonder if you can help me develop the Manson branch of the family. My interest starts with Sinclair Manson who married John Henderson in Halkirk in 1851. Her parents were William Manson 1790-1873 and Jane Ross b1793. I have the names of Williams parents as Donald Manson and Ann Macleod but no dates.I have no parents names for Jane.
Can anyone help me get any further back.
Cheers

Was Jane b Sutherland - just to make sure I have the right 1861 entry

As she died after 1855 - have you checked SP for her death cert as it will give her parents info

What is the latest census you have found her on as that will narrow any search for her death - she was still alive in 1871

She was in 1871 census but not 1881. She was still alive when William died in 1873.

So you are looking for a death between 1873-1881

SP has 3 matches for that name with a death in Caithness  between 1873-1881 and a birthyear 1793 +- 2yrs

I can only find one other Jane Manson in Caithness in 1871 with that birthyear range which leaves 2 unknown

Have you already viewed and discarded those 3 entries?
