Clark Toronto
« on: Sunday 15 May 11 05:16 BST (UK) »
Have come to a brickwall trying to find my mothers cousin James D Clark son of Andrew and Florence who lived in Toronto. The parents separated and Andrew moved back to Calgary in 1956....he died in 1961 and Florence and James were still in Toronto...I have no idea how to try and find James. Any suggestions or help would be most welcome thank you

Hello Marilyn

A lookup in the Toronto City Directories published by Might could be a resource to check. A Rootschatter in Toronto may have access to the print volumes at their local library. If not, the microfiche volumes could be borrowed on interlibrary loans. Details for fiche here:

Hello Linda

Thank you fo rthe suggestions, I have had the city directories checked a few years ago bu  no-one could narrow
it down and a kind person also called Jim Clark even rang around the names in the directories  but to no avail..
I am in NZ so its very hard to get hold of Canadian rescourses so rely on generous volunteers
As you say a rRoots chatter may be of help. If I could find James D Clarks birth it would be a help in narrowing the years
thanks again Linda

In 1962, there is a Mrs. Florence Clark in the Voters' Lists living at 371 Brookdale Avenue, Toronto not noted with others of voting age in the household.  When was James born? 1957 entry says she is a widow.  What else do you know about her?

Hi Eileen
I think Andrew and she separated around 1956, he died 1861, was she at the same address in 1957 as in 1962? I only know she worked in the Railway hotel or somewhere like that and that she had a son James D Clark . Thanks for your message and Seasons Greetings

In 1958, Andrew (Art) & Florence are both living together in Calgary.  He works as a pipefitter for the CPR (Canadian Pacific Railway).  She has no occupation. If they split after that, she would have gone to Toronto with James, and the one I found is not the right one, as she is in Toronto prior to 1958.

1953 has them in Calgary -- Andrew F. Clark noted as being in the army.
Online tree at Ancestry has his death record. His sister was the informant.  She didn't know Florence's maiden name.
