Hi there

Bailey is associated with Hardwicke Hall in Derbyshire. It was the name of the husband of Bess of Hardwicke. His name was Robert Bailey of Bailey. It may have been a small hamlet in the past. Could have been overrun by another village or even knocked down for whatever reason.
I found it on a good site called A vision of Britain through time. It gives you
small villages and towns from about the 13th centuary, very interesting.

regards Sandymc

p.s. He is also called Robert Barlow in some research?

Indeed ... local tradition has it that it is Barlow and that he lived at Barlow Hall.

Hi,
There is a 'Bailey Brook' that runs through Langley Mill in East Derbyshire. Sometimes the names of brooks are related to place names.
