Mary WHITE, pre 1815 VDL
« on: Tuesday 17 May 11 10:51 BST (UK) »
Trying to trace a Mary WHITE who had two sons, William born 21 Nov, bapt 25 Dec 1815 and James born 15 March, bapt 26 May 1817. They were baptised by Bobby Knopwood and presumably born  in Hobart Town. (though being the travelling clergyman it may have been Port Dalrymple)

She is linked on the Colonial Tasmanian Family Links index (which is notoriously inaccurate) with some later births mid 1840 through to 1897 - which I think is really stretching a woman's child bearing abilities  :o

I've had a look at the musters for Hobart Town and Port Dalrymple in both free women/children and convict women/children through 1819, 1820 and 1821 and can't find any references to her or the boys. Have also checked for burial or marriage for a Mary WHITE in the early period but nothing stands out....same with William and James...

Curious that theres not some hint of them post 1817 in VDL although they may have moved back to NSWs or elsewhere....

Cheers,

Peter
