Ev, I am new to this site and joind up specifically when i happened upon your post re Hector Munro and Jean McRitchie. They were my 4x great grandparents and Hector died on 05 Jan 1875 in a poorhouse in Perth, Scotland. His parents were Hector Munro 1778-1824 and Christian Robertson 1773-1809. Hector snr. was also married to a Margaret Kennedy 1772-1814. Christian Robertson's parents were John Robertson 1740-1798 and Janet Rutherford 1733-1808. My research has been done over a length of time, using a variety of sources, mainly Ancestry, Family Search, Scotland's People and many others. I am currently looking at the McRitchies and have discovered some interesting letters online. If you are interested, please let me know. i hope this is of help to you.

Hi Dotty , welcome to RC  :)

If I remember correctly this was research for a relative , I've forgotten exactly who it was and have long since handed all the information over.

I do have a death cert. for an Alexander McRitchie 1856 age 78 in Fife(Widower , wife not given).
I'm wondering if Alexander was possibly the father of Jean McRitchie ?

Yes, my research shows that Jean McRitchie was the daughter of Alexander McRitchie, born in 1778 in North Queensferry, Fife and of Charlotte Bell, born in Inverkeithing in 1783. Alexander did, indeed, die in 1856 in North Queensferry and Charlotte died there in 1853. Thanks for replying so promptly.
