You are invited to the wedding....
« on: Monday 23 May 11 21:45 BST (UK) »
I have found a number of wedding invitations in some family papers.  The earliest dates from 1878.  Does anyone have any idea when they became common practice?

Looking at the 19th Century Newspapers, advertisements for wedding invitation stationery first appear in 1850. The first one in The Times is on Friday, Jul 09, 1841 although it is not clear what is being referred to, it says wedding notes, invitations, presents etc.
