Looking for parents of Elizabeth Best and John Snell. Married Oct-Dec 1853, St Austell. Elizabeth born Apr 1830 Cornwall, died May 1911 Moonta.
John born Sep 1826 Cornwall, died Oct 1908 Moonta.

a possible ?
Elizabeth Best christened 9th August ...Truby with Tregony,Cornwall ...father Richard Best /mother Mary
17 records in Cornwall 1825 -35 ...only one in 1830...if you are sure about the year, this christening looks a likely
it`s a possible that Mary was Mary Vivian...marriage to Richard Best 11th June 1812 in Ruan Lanihorne ,Cornwall
but only a possible...they are both extracted records

a little problem for you here
there are TWO christenings in 1826 for John Snell
30th April 1826 at Menheniot,Cornwall ...parents ...Thomas and Thomasina
29th June 1826 at Roche,Cornwall....parents...Thomas and Elisabeth

Just a point which may be of note. In the 1851 census there is a John Snell  1827 born St Stephens in Brannel living with the family of James and Philippa best at Gorvarseth in St Stephens.

If you go back to the census of 1841 to the family of James and Philippa Best you will see that daughter Elizabeth (1826) is with them. Remember ages were rounded in the 1841 census. The Snell family including John are neighbours.

James Best's mother was Jane Snell.

Hello Fizzybubble,
One thing still puzzles me about Elizabeth - her birth date. The South Australian Biographical Index shows her born 21 Apr 1830 (see attachment).
I have found an Elizabeth Best born 1830 Cuby with Tregony, parents Richard and Mary.(LDS)

Hello Fizzy,
Elizabeth Raglan b 18 Oct 1854 on ship Lord Raglan. d May 1855, Burra.
Alfred b 16 Aug 1857, Kadina. d 24 Feb 1922.
Louisa b 18 Dec 1859 Kadina
Elizabeth Jane b 21 Aug 1862 Kadina. d 4 Sep 1862.
Once I have established their parents lineage I will visit the BMDs again.

Ther is another Alfred Snell b 1860 parents John Snell and Sarah Elizabeth Miller. Some trees I believe wrongly attribute Arthur ,1860, with John Snell and Elizabeth Best.
