Joseph Hobbins was the son of Sarah Hobbins, born in 1852 in Dilhorne.
In 1851 Sarah Hobbins is a servant in the home of James Pyatt.
In 1855 James Pyatt marries Sarah Hobbins in Cheadle.
In 1861 census Joseph is listed under the surname PYATT.
Joseph Hobbins marries Clara Neild in 1873 in Cheadle.
The marriage is listed twice on staffordshirebmd, once under the surname HOBBINS like freebmd and once under the surname PYATT.
Joseph dies in 1880 aged 28 registered under the name Joseph PYATT.
Clara (now Hobbins) marries Thomas Weaver in 1881 and all of her children are listed in 1881 census in their house under the name Weaver.
In 1882 a daughter Ethel is born.

Clara then marries Stephen Leese in 1883 in Stoke.

Marriage certificate of James Pyatt and Sarah Hobbins shows marriage occurred on 25 Dec 1855 in Cheadle. James the son of James Pyatt (pensioner) married Sarah (spinster) daughter of George Baker.

Baker / Hobbins bit still needs some work!

welshjo.thanks for your reply.you have cleared. a few things up  for me. when i was a lad my mother would take me to birmingham rag market.a stall that. was set up selling pottery seconds.it was run by afamily called leese. my mom would stay a long time. i always came away  with five shillings which was a lot of money.  1 remember  been told they were  some sort of cousins from longton. the name of nield .rings a bell. but connected to cheadle . to get information from my moms generation.seemed so hard  my grandad by all accounts. was prone to drink all his takings away. and the family. would do a moonlight flit as they couldnt pay the rent. people call them the good old days. the youngest son albert junior died while he was still a boy from what they called sleeping sickness. i remember been told  that they called him sunny. all four girls became publicans as did three of the boys..my first name is stewart.
