McCoskry Rhonehouse

Hi I'm trying to discover what happened to Elisabeth  Copland (born 1814)and her son Nathaniel McCoskry born about 1840 to Robert McCoskry and Elisabeth Copland
They are listed in the 1841 census in the parish of Kelton  Kirkcubright
The 1851 census lists Mrs McCoskry as a widower
living with her children 
Nathaniel 10
Mary 9
Robert 4
then she vanishes with Nathaniel
and I can't find them
altho I can find Robert and Mary
Robert is living with his grandparents in the 1861 census
any help would be much appreciated
