Jarvis Gresford Wrexham
« on: Sunday 29 May 11 18:38 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the parents of John Henry Jarvis born in Gresford 1875 & wondered if anyone can help me please? I have found him & his sister, Mary Annie Jarvis born 1873 on the 1881 census & they were with their grandparents, James & Ann Taylor & uncle, Thomas Taylor.  Their parents did not appear.  John Henry was with his grandparents according to the 1891 census so I have assumed his parents had died before 1881.

John Henry Jarvis married Ada Maud Marion Ewers in around 1901 in Monmouth.

If I can find the names of his parents I will be able to open up my tree, hopefully.

I would appreciate any help you can offer me please.

Many thanks  ::)

Free BMD has a marriage of an Ann Guest to James Taylor reg Gt Boughton Sep Q 1860 vol 8a page 499

In 1851 these three ladies are at the Alms House Gresford
HO107/Piece2502/Folio222/Page22
Elizabeth Guest, wid, Parish Relief, age 66 born Cheshire
Mary Guest, unm, age 35, born Gresford
Ann Guest, unm, age 20, born Gresford

Free BMD has an Elizabeth Guest birth registered Jun Q 1851, reg Wrexham vol 27 page 282.  According to the Northwales BMD the birth was registered in Hope subdistrict which included Gresford at that time.

Other than the one sighting in 1871 I haven't been able to locate Evan Jarvis born circa 1822 on any other census to verify his age.  Hopefully someone else will be able to help find more information to fill in the picture :)

Hi Squirrelly

You are very welcome.  Just don't forget that all the info being posted is just supposition until you obtain the documents to prove it ;)   You really need to obtain the birth certificate for John Henry Jarvis and then the marriage certificate of his parents to ensure the data is correct before going further back.

Just to let you know that I got the birth certificate & your research was right.  His parents were Evan Jarvis & Elizabeth Guest.

Thank you

Evan Jarvis was born c.1822 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.  Can you let me know how I go abount finding a birth certificate for him please as the systems I have looked at so far only go as far back as 1837.

Many thanks again
