Certs are despatched by post from GRO Roscommon, and unless the rates have changed recently, research certs only cost €4 as long as you include the full references - as in the example above.  The extra €2 charge is for searches when exact references are not known.

The GRO does have a research room where you can search index books, and order and collect certs in person - it's based in Abbey Street in Dublin.

The local newspaper for Carlow is The Carlow Nationalist which has been in continous print since 1883.  At that time it would have been called the Nationalist & Leinster times. There are microfilm copies of all editions in Carlow library but the print quality is not great.  It is also on file in the National Library in Dublin

Hi Jack,

My grandad used to live at St Marys Lodge until he retired so I have spent many a summer holiday there :)

The relatives graves which you have found are ones I have visited often as they are of my aunt, great uncles and great grandmothers.

Many thanks though :)

Lynz

Hello Lynz

I also have links to the Galballys my grandfathers mother was a Galbally daughter of George Galbally. From the Kildare/Carlow area. Maybe there is a connection.
