*Completed thank you* Isabel* [Young] Campbell death
« on: Wednesday 01 June 11 10:32 BST (UK) »
HELP!  I'm stuck  :(  This elderly couple appear to have both died between 1851 census and the start of statutory records in 1855.  Found Angus' death 1856.

There's nothing on SP, they are not with family on the next census.  The last census I have for them is 1851
Ross & Cromarty
Killearnan
Address:     Whitewells
CAMPBELL  Angus   head     mar    76 Crofter of 5 acres    Ross & Crom, Killearnan
CAMPBELL  Isabel   wife     mar     74 Crofters wife        Ross & Crom, Killearnan
FRASER      Ann   grandau   unmar     16  Scholar       Ross & Crom, Killearnan
GOLLAN     John   s-i-l    mar     37  Labourer        Ross & Crom, Kiltearn
GOLLAN     Isabel   wife [sic dau] mar    37         Ross & Crom, Killearnan
GOLLAN     Donald   grandson      13  Scholar      Ross & Crom, Killearnan
GOLLAN     Isabel    grandau      11  Scholar      Ross & Crom, Killearnan

I would like to get back further but there's nothing on familysearch and without any death certs or OPR it's hopeless.

Can anyone find anything, anywhere?

Thank you!

Ooops I have just found Angus' death in 1856 so just Isabella.

The death cert says he is married so perhaps Isabella is still alive in 1856.   However it is likely she went to live with one of her children so she will possibly not have died in Killearnan or even in Ross & Cromarty!

Hi

There is just one death on SP  for an Is* Campbell, other surname Young of that broad age range in the whole of Scotland.

It looks like it's yours:

Killearnan, 1866 - Isabella Campbell. Aged 90.  Mother's name - Noble. Other surname - Young

She must be on the 1861 somewhere. I'll have a quick look.

Bless you gnu you've cracked it!  ;D

That's her address, I'll get that downloaded - Crikey that's some age.  I found her missing children on the old FS pilot down as McIver  ???  Angus father down as McIver or Campbell (I know Campbell was a disliked name by many BUT!!)  :-\

Campbell and McIver were often used synonymously in Wester Ross - have come across it time and time again doing research for friends.

I've run a check on Knockbain but the registers seem a wee bit strange  :-\

Oddly Angus (her husband) was buried in the old Gilchrist (Kilchrist) burial ground in Urray according to the death certificate.
