Possibly a little earlier, his son Arnold was born 1882 (Switzerland).  Josef born and died Switzerland - died either when his son was an infant or just prior to son's birth.

I do not have the original, however, I have seen the original and there is nothing written on the back or front to say just when it was taken or where.

I was intending to post a topic to see if anyone could identify the uniform, but had forgotten how to post a picture - hence the test.

Family legend says he was in the Vatican Swiss Guard but there is no proof of that at all.
