Can any one help please, I am trying to find the last resting place for Grace Winnifred Robinson nee Allwork, her death certificate gives the following information date of death 10 Sept 1945, place of death Lower Broughton Road, Broughton, The death was registered at Salford North, Salford I know for certain that she was buried just not where. Her DOB is Jun 1907, her husband, Frederick Tudor Robinson didn't die until 1970 in Westminster London and he was cremated.

Hi,

Do you know if she was Roman Catholic?  If she was I would start by emailing Salford Diocese and ask them to check if she is in St Joseph's RC Cemetery at Moston:-

cemeteries(at)salforddiocese.org

** replace (at) with @ as per Rootschat rules regarding email addresses

When I have emailed with an exact date of death they have been helpful and checked for me.

She doesn't seem to be on the Manchester Online Burials:-

www.burialrecords.manchester.gov.uk

So that leaves Salford and they charge quite a lot for searches - £16.00 with an accurate date.  I don't know whether that would be for a search across all four cemeteries or whether they would charge £16.00 per cemetery.

www.salford.gov.uk/cemeteries

Hope this helps.

Hi,

The only other thing I could suggest is a website called Cemsearch.  They have information on Weaste Cemetery, Salford and they charge £6.00 per surname.  They have 32 Robinson graves on their database with details of 129 people.  Its a bit a long shot I know.

www.cemsearch.co.uk/weaste/weasteR.html

I am not sure which of the Salford cemeteries would be closest to Broughton but I am certain someone on the Lancashire board will know.

Hi,

I think Agecroft Cemetery is the closest to Broughton, with Weaste not far from that one.

Hi, how do you know for certain that she was buried? She could well be cremated and the ashes buried with a family member?
Have you tried looking for an obituary in any of the local papers for that time? Do you know the cause of death and was there an inquest? If so i would check to see if there is a coroners report available?
Are any other family members buried in this area, including Manchester where she might have been laid to rest with?

I was 99.9999% one family of mine would not have been cremated and turned out that there children had them cremated due to the coast of burials

A friend of mine needed to locate a grave in Agecroft, he lived in Rochdale at the time and was not going to pay stupid money.

What he did was to get a family member in a distant country, saying they were coming over later in the year and would like to visit the family grave blah blah blah etc.  ;D

Did it work on this occasion it did he got the grave number, not who else was in it.  ;D

They can only say "go away" "here she is" or "she is not here" any of the later would help.

So try emailing agecroft.cemetery[at]salford.gov.uk as you have the date of death.

Would definitely give Ken's suggestion a try.† You have nothing to lose and you have an exact date of death so it would be an easy search for them.† It does sometimes work to say you live in "a distant land" and I would definitely NOT mention you are researching a family tree.† If you want to PM the details to me, I will give it a try emailing for you from overseas† :D.
