Vicar of St Cadocs Trevethin 1915
« on: Sunday 12 June 11 14:34 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Does anyone know how I could find the name of the vicar at St Cadocs Trevethin in 1915? My grandparents were married there.
Thank you so much
 :)

The church address is:
St Cadoc's Church, Trevethin, Pontypool, Torfaen, NP4 8JF. The present incumbent may be able to help
Lloyd (Ystumtuen, Llanfihangel y Creuddyn) Powell (Rhondda, Merthyr Tydfil, Llanspyddid) Yearsley (Monmouth, Ruardean) Faust (Gelsenkirchen, Dortmund & Waltersbrück/Bischhausen) Führen (Eschweiler, Duisburg and Kranenburg/Grafwegen)

A record office or large county/city library should have back copies of 'Crockford's Clerical Directory' which lists Anglican clergy.  I suspect that vicar should be listed, though not sure whether the Church in Wales existed then.  If it did, there should be a separate listing.

Hi Ainslie,
That's very useful information which should prove handy for other searches in the future. I am happy to say that I just received a copy of my relatives marriage certificate which gave me the answer to my question! In actual fact the vicar in question was from St. James Pontypool and his name in case it will ever help anyone else, was Goronwy Gower.
I do appreciate your time and trouble in helping me. :) :)
