Copage Family

Hi I've been trying to trace the Copage family for quite a while now. I noticed that a couple of people had the name listed as an interest. Would really like to contact anyone with an interest in the name. (hope this the right place to do this request, as I am new here)

I have a Jemima Copage who was my 2XGreatgrandmother.Most of the Copages came from Warwickshire,sometimes spelt Coppage.

Thanks Jim. Is this Jemima bpt 28/Nov 1813 and marrying Henry Mander? My direct ancestors come from Tanworth in Arden but I am collecting all the Copages.  (Coppage Copeage etc)  and trying to build up the family tree. Did you find out who was William's father? (jemima's father) By the way did you know B'ham Lib will have very limited archive access during the next 2 years.  They are closing the top 3 floors. Trying to to find all the things I need to look up befor the end of June!!!!!

You have the right Jemima,Henry & Jemima are my 2XGreatgrandparents.
I have William Copage as the "probable" father as she was born Wootton Wawen & there are no other Copages born to them there,the others being in Tanworth as you know.
The records are held at War.CRO not B'ham.
I need to get down there when I have time & look them up.
The problem here is that there were a lot of Copages in the same area with the same names so it difficult to know who are the right ones.

Hi Yes spent many a happy hour at WRO in the days of winding microfilms for census info! I think my
3xg grandfather John's parents were also William and Mary. He was baptised 26 jun 1794. I have the microfiche for St Mary Mag if it is a help. John lived on the very edge of T in A which is classed as Aspley, Wooton Wawen (census returns etc). I have also seen it written as Tanworth in Wooton in the burial reg!!!

I'm not altogether sure what exists of the Wootton PR's,I think I remember reading somewhere that some were destroyed in a flood affecting the years around 1790-1810 but until I go there I won't know.

Hi Jim, I too am researching this couple. Have you any new information since this was posted?

I'm afraid I was never able to establish who Jemima's parents were except to say they were William & Mary Copage. He being a stone mason.
