*Completed with thanks* Alexander STEWART age 18 1871 census
« on: Wednesday 22 June 11 13:17 BST (UK) »
I've lost a member of a rather sad family group, age 18  Alexander Stewart (a twin) is missing from the family after the death of his father the previous year (1870).

I was told some years ago that he was "living in a bothy age 18 Ag Lab in Perthshire" his mother died the following year 1872 and the entire family including the younger ones dispersed, Alexander and his twin both ended up in Glasgow and I have all the census from 1881 on.  I have traced all the younger ones in 1871 (all servants) but not Alexander.  :-[

There are 4 possibles on SP (where I spent a small fortune today successfully getting the younger children!!  :P) but not in either parish where I would have expected him to be.   Does anyone have access to look ups?  It would be great to complete the family for the 1871 census.

They are
STEWART   ALEXANDER   M   18   CLUNIE (PERTH)
STEWART   ALEXANDER   M   18   FORTINGALL   /PERTH
STEWART   ALEXANDER   M   18   MOULIN   /PERTH
STEWART   ALEXANDER   M   18   TIBBERMORE   /PERTH

He would have been a farm servant or agricultural labourer place of birth Thornhill, Perthshire or Kincardine, Perthshire.

Thank you!  :)

Hi

I've not looked at the originals but ~

The one in Clunie looks the most likely as he's at Boston ? Farm Bothy, an Ag Lab  but born Caputh

Fortingall one is a shoemaker with father,  Alexander

Moulin one is really (?) an Irvine and a merchant's clerk

Tibbermore - a Farm servant b. Perth. No mention of a bothy.

That's interesting, Pam, as his twin brother, Walter, is down as aged 16 in 1871.

How strange!  Their sister Agnes (16!!) is with William King farmer and family at Earn Farm, Kilmadock in 1871, I wonder if the two King families were related.
