John Cadman 1851 Warwickshire Census Stray
« on: Monday 14 June 04 22:24 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace my great, great grandfather John Cadman in the 1851 census.

He was born in Bulkington, Wks. in 1834.

He was living with his family in Bulkington, Wks. in the 1841 census.

However, I have been unable to find him in Warwickshire in the 1851 census.  In future censuses he appears back in Bulkington and later in Mancetter.

He was a hand loom ribbon weaver.

If anyone can help me find him in 1851 I would really appreciate it. He would have been aged about 16 at the time of that census.
The main names that I am researching into at the moment are Cadman,(originating from Bulkington, Warwickshire), Smedley, (Leicestershire and Derbyshire), Paynes (Leicestershire, Yorkshire and Derbyshire) and Udall - you will also find several other names on my web page. I look forward to E-Mails from anyone who would like to share or talk about our family history.

Dear Geoff,

Many thanks for looking up but I am affarid this is the worng John Cadman. He would have been about 16 at the time of the census.

His mother was Ann Cadman, his father Henry Cadman who died in 1850.  I have found Ann with the rest of her family in 1851 but no John. I think that he may have been out of the county.

If any one out there can find him it would be really appreciated.

Best Wishes,

Andy

Hi Andy

Just letting you know he is not in Leicestershire in 1851. There was only one Cadman in the whole of Leics and that was a Sarah.

All the best
Linda ::)

Many thanks Linda.

Only one Cadman in the whole of Leicestershire at the time. Just shows how we Cadman's have spread out since!!!!  John had a sister Sarah born 1835  does she fit?

Can anyone else try any other counties?

Best Wishes,

Andy

Hi Andy,

I've rechecked Warwickshire, only entry for a CADMAN born in Bulkington is theone I've already listed.

Checked the 1851 for Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Bristol & Bedminster, he's not there either.

sorry.

Cheers

A long shot, but if ever your Cadman line gravitates towards Chesterfield, give me an e-mail. I am rather banging my head against a wall looking for the Cadmans!
If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you may as well make it dance.

Many Thanks to all those who have helped in the search so far.

We have established that he was not in Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset or Bristol & Bedminster unless the enumerator missed him out!!

Could he have been in another county - Staffordshire perhaps or elsewhere.

Best Wishes to Everyone,

Andy
