Question about Electoral Rolls

Hello I found Frederick Percy Jones and Isabol Jones at 77 Eastern Ave, South Sydney, Kensington.

In 1949 there is a Frederick Percy Jones JR. My question is, are the names on the roll people who are voting age? or people living at the house?

What was voting age in the late 40's

The electoral rolls would have been people over 21 who were enrolled to vote.

You can enrol at 16 years for federal purposes but cannot vote
until you are 18. For Western Australian electors the minimum age
for enrolment is 17.

Before 1970, the legal voting age was 21 across Australia, at both federal level and in all of the states and territories of Australia. In that year however, the state of Western Australia lowered the voting age to 18, and New South Wales passed a law to lower the age, although it had not yet taken effect at the time of this case. South Australia lowered the age in 1971. At the federal level, the Liberal government under Billy McMahon was opposed to lowering the voting age, and resisted calls to follow the states in lowering the age.

So in the 40's it would have been 21 as mum mum stated.

Well I ordered a death certificate for a Leslie Thomas Jones in 1928. Looks like the parents were Frederick and Isabel. They lived at 77 Eastern Avenue.

So knowing their address, it is confirmed that the electoral roll info I found for a Jones family at 77 eastern ave is correct.

Still cannot find much about their son Allen (or Allan) Jones. I hope to find his birth but he was born some time after 1923. He Married Patricia and I ordered their marriage certificate.
