Hi sorry for not mentioning that.  My great grandmother married there in 1872 and the family lived there 50 years previously.

Thanks for your reply.

Hello

I was wondering who your ggrandmother would have been.  My relation is a Theophilus Paton of Swinlees Dalry 1755 who had a brother George  1752.  It seems Georges children lived at Gateside Street as did their other brother Willliam Paton 1753 and his children.

The mother and father of said Theophilus, George and William was Jean Rankine and William Paton of Hanging  Haugh.

It would be great to talk to you more

Michelle

Hello Michelle

My great grandmother was Mary Paton born 1845 and her parents were William Paton, carter, born 1820 and Helen Brown.  William Paton who was my gg grandfather's parents were William Paton and Mary McTaggart.  You seem to have got much further back than I have.  It seems a lot of Patons lived in Gateside Street so no doubt they are all related somewhere along the line.  Hope we can help each other fill in a few missing pieces.

Karen

Hi Karen

I found this interesting.  I know that a George Paton was a weaver.

Do you have a tree on ancestry ?  Can I contact you directly via eamil ?
