Hello Gower  :)

Which Gelli Gynar Farm do you mean? What information do you have about the Jones family?  Do you need census info, BMD, etc?

At Gelli Gynar Isaf I found Henry Jones, farmer of 70 acres employing 2 labourers in 1881, with daughters Mar and Hannah, son Henry, and baby Granddaughter Hannah.

He was still there in 1891. John Jones was at Gelli gynar Uchaf, farm of 75 acres.

If you could be more specific, it will help avoid wasted effort. :D

Kind Regards
Morgan

Hi Morgan,

I was looking at Samuel (father of Henry, John & others). Samuel & Rachel were at Gelli gynar in 1841. I am researching their son James born 1835 & am hoping he is the seem James who moved to US.....thanks

Only just seen this.  If I recall correctly, it is thought that James did emigrate to America and he later became a coal mine and steel works owner in Pennsylvania.  A web site setting out the companies history suggests that he came from Pentrecagal in Penboyr parish.

Unfortunately there is no confirmation that the Jones' in America actually did come from Gelli gynnar. I guess that unless the family can confirm the link then something like DNA would be necessary. Seems that there is no hard evidence at this time - unless there is more information available.
