Hi

My ancestor also farmed at Easter Baton. His name was James Waddell (born 1765) and married to Christian Bryce, does anyone have any info him?

Regards

Duncan

Yes, I have quite a bit of information about this family, and I am in touch with a descendant. However I think you are probably in touch with the same person because I been sent a tree which includes a Duncan Weddell, born on the 25th of the month, whose late grandmother was named Daphne. I can't be any more explicit because RootsChat rules prevent me posting anything that would allow identification of any living people.

James W and Christian Bryce had 5 children: William, Janet, James, John and Christian. James died at 17, and I don't know what became of William and Janet. John married Mary Cowan and founded a large family. Christian married Alexander Dalziel and had ten of a family, but I don't have any more information about them.

I don't think James can have been born in 1765, because that is when his eldest son William was born. He would have been born more like 1735/40.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
