Resource - FISHER death certificate
« on: Thursday 14 July 11 15:09 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I have been searching for a distant relative and always thought they may have died in England. No information was ever found. BUT.... I just found a death in Australia that could be him.
His name is Robert Stewart Fisher
Born Glasgow Scotland

the death info I found on Ancest... is as follows

Robert Stewart FISHER
Western Australia
82 years
Father, Thomas J
Mother, Mary
Reg Place, Swan, Weatern Australia
Reg # 166/71

Is there a way for someone to find out more information about this or obtain a copy.

I checked the Electoral rolls up from 1930 to 1954 and found a Robert Stewart Fisher and a warf labouror. Which is fitting since his marriage certificate stated he was a ship steward in 1914. He married Helen Glenesk in 1914 in Glasgow but there is no mention of her in the electoral rolls. Possible divorce or death?

Thank you to all who has looked at this. Eager to learn more.

Tim Fisher, Ontario Canada

Wow that was fast. Thanks for the information. This may be him. His age would place him around 1892 which could be him.

What informaiton is found on a Death certificate. Will it give wife and parents?

Thanks

Tim

WA certs are quite expensive AUD $44.

You may like to browse the WA resources...lots of links that may be helpful.

Cando has given the burial details of the man in 1971
The age stated as 78.

The grantee is named as
JAMES GALLOWAY.

Do you know that name at all?

Yes noticed the difference in ages but as we are looking at transcribed data there could be errors and can't check the online WA deaths.  Wonder why ancestry is able to list deaths later than the online records?

There is only one Robert Stewart FRASER enrolled on the available Australian electoral rolls 1931 - 1954.

Perhaps this passenger record is simply a co-incidence of name and occupation.

A Robert FISHER, dockhand, English, Single or or unaccompanied by husband or wife, embarked from London on 3 Aug 1911, on the ORONTES ticketed to Fremantle.

Know little about the occupation dock hand/wharf labourer but would it be similar to a ship steward?

Cheers

Yes. ::)

And, as an aside, I am always amazed that WA can publish births right up to 1932!
(albeit without parents' names)

Big difference between 1910 (NSW) and 1932 (WA)
