Conscription Dates
« on: Saturday 16 July 11 13:03 BST (UK) »
D O B :  March  1901.   Would a man born then have been conscripted?

He said he did not serve in WW1 but had been to " Mesopotamia " about 1920/1  This is the only info I have, his name and DOB,  by 1924 he was back home, Islington, occp. Carman.

I have tried Glasgow Records, several years ago, and paid my £30. nothing was found.
Is there any other way/records I could try?

Any help greatly appreciated

By the end of the war you could be conscripted from the age of 18. Consciption ended in mid-1919, so he may have been unlucky and was enlisted just after his 18th birthday. He probably did not go overseas until he was 19. He then would have been at the end of the line to be demobbed as they gave priority to men who had been in the longest and/or married.

He would probably have been demobbed by the end of 1920. So if his record is not on Ancestry his service is unlikely to be recorded anywhere.

Ady,  only ever heard the army mentioned, would think it very unlikely he would have been in the RAF.
Many thanks for taking the time to look, its very much appreciated.
