On the birth certificates of his sons Harry and Norman,Harry Lee Lowe's birth place was Leadville Colorado. Certificates found on the internet.

Hi Maryanne, I'm a little lost.......Tell me what we have that is relevant

Thom. HB Yelland
b. 2/23/1881 in England
d. Apr. 20, 1953 in LA  ??     Or did you have Arizona death??
Immig. 1900
m. Ethel  in 1904 in Michigan
b. 1883
d.????
Divorced from Thomas but don't know where/when??
2 Children:
Roy b. 1905 Michigan
Verna 1909 Michigan

Verna m. Harry Lee Lowe b. 1906 Leadville
2 sons:
Harry W. b. 1928 Ariz.
Norman b. 1929 in Ariz.
Verna in LA w/ sons in 1930 w/o Harry.
Is Verna also divorced from Harry???
Could Beth be Harry's second wife and they are in Pasadena in 1930?

Is the Harry with the Veterens record buried in Long Island, NY relevant?

Found Roy Yelland b. Mar. 5, 1905
d. Mar 24, 1988 in Tucson Pima Co. Arizona
Soc. Sec. # 527 16 2697

In 1994 Tel. Directory:  Roy Yelland  @ 400 So. Broadway #1319, Tucson, AZ   85710  Tel.  602/290-1006.

1930 Pasadena, Los Angeles Co., Calif.
Harry E. Yellend
Wife Margaret R. Yellend

Children:
Everett, 1920
William H. 1921
Virgina R 1922
Roy E. 1924
Rhoda I 1926
Mary M  1926

Divorce & Marriage will probably not ocurr in a national database --  probably have to know State/County.  In many states, you have to request in writing and pay fee.  Arizona is pretty progressive with so much on line!

The only thing I found for Harry Lowe was the 1930 Pasadena entry with wife Beth.  But I'm going to recheck 1910 and 1920 again.

Let me know specifically what needs to be rechecked.

Kathy

Thomas HB Yelland's died in LA and I haven't any idea where Ethel is.

The Harry Lowe you found living with Beth cannot be the one Verna was married to as in the 1930 census Verna was with her 2 sons and was married, although Harry Lee Lowe wasn't in the household at the time.

I wanted to know if the Harry Lee Lowe born 1906 in Leadville Colorado and married to Verna, was living with his parents in Leadville during the 1910 census.

Maryanne,  I tried with many different variations/"tricks"on name and data and nothing comes up for Harry Lee in Leadville or anywhere else. I tried some other specialized Leadville sources (I'm researching Leadville/Denver in my family as well) and nothing!

Also tried w/Ethel Yelland in that even if she remarried children's names might remain Yelland even if hers changed and nothing there either.

FYI in 1910/1920, there are only 75 Yellands in the total census, and about 128 if you count Soundex variations.  Seems most were/are in Michigan.

So either they were in movement during census periods or are recorded under a misspelled name or an unreadable entry, etc.  I have found many census transcription errors in my family search.  Have only eventually found the people by "trickery" and luck!

So think that's all I can do.
Good luck,
Kathy

Thank-you Kathy for the reply. I have found the Yellands in Michigan and Los Angeles and some were from the family I have been looking for.

I find that the person who I most want to find,in this case Ethel Yelland (maiden name Beare), is the one who is hardest to trace after 1910. In the 1910 census she was living in Michigan.

Maryanne, I 'll give it another shot using her maiden name  --  sometimes people go back to using it after a divorce paticularily if there is animosity.

I'll let you know...

Thank-you Kathy.
On Verna Lowe's SSDI they have her father surname as Yelland which is the correct spelling and her mother's maiden name as Bair, which is incorrect. it should have been Beare.
