Gaps in records St Helens,Sefton
« on: Saturday 16 July 11 16:42 BST (UK) »
Hi,

A relative has contacted me about their research on Lunt family around Sefton
They have done extensive research of the church records-and found gaps (wouldn't you know it !!)
  from --14th Jan 1795 to 18th December 1795

 and further gaps 1797-1799.

Would these records have been copied and stored elsewhere????

Thanks
Elsa-Mary

You could always check with the Lancashire Record Office to see if there were any Bishops Transcripts lodged with them.

Hi,
Hoping my distant cousin in Oz-will be able to access these records, as we were begining to think the records from 1795 -1799 were lost.
So here's hoping Thanks

Extensive research on Sefton St Helen's church registers have been done by a gentleman in the area. He has produced transcribed baptisms, marriages, burials and MIs to into the 20th century. Bound copies are available of his marvellous efforts are available at Sefton Local History at Crosby Library.

I notice that the records have also been transcribed on www.lan-opc.co.uk and these have the gaps you mention. It may be that the incumbent or his clerk was rather lazy at this time!!!!

Hi Gibel. :)
Bearing in mind I am in Brittany-- how would I be able to contact his gentleman--obviously not in position to search these records here?

Is there a point of contact for him?---please
Thank You soooooo much.

You would be best to contact Sefton Local History Unit at Crosby Library their number is 0151 257 6401.

They may have an email address but I don't know what it is.
