Colour is changing and panic setting in
« on: Monday 02 May 05 01:39 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am not up on PC's etc.  But the colour is gradually changing while online. Colour is changing on most websites inc Rootsweb.

Noticed yesterday when looking at census image, usually view fine but all colours surrounding image and text not as clear sort of blurred.  Any ideas?

The colour is at 256 or something under display, settings. I have never adjusted this.

Looks like when a TV is about to go

It could be your monitor is about to expire
or
faulty graphics drivers .... 256 colours is actually a very low setting
or possibly speakers set too close to screen

BUT given the symptons you describe I fear that it is the first  :(

Thanks for that

It looks like, had a word with my brother, who didn't actually see it , but he said like you, monitor is going >:(    Getting worse by the minute.  Oh well, sooner spend my money on birth certs!  I'll keep hold of it for a little longer, hopefully.

Cheers

It does rather sound like it but don't write it off too soon. is it a tft  flat screen or a CRT (large boxy ) monitor?
CRT Monitors sometimes need degussing ?Make sure that no other electrical equipment is near it including your pc tower or speakers.leave a gap of at least 15" to minimise the effects of any magnetic field interferance.

It mght be a simple problem that can be fixed by your local tv repair man but frankly it would probably be better to upgrade to a larger screen. Prices are at an all time low and a new 17" CRT can be bought for as little as £45.00  and a 17" tft for £125.00 eg www.ebuyer.com

It is most probably your monitor that is on the way out as the others say, but it may be worth checking that the monitor lead hasn't come a bit lose. (unless it's screwed in it's easy for it to come slightly unstuck if you perhaps move the computer when vacuuming the floor - or if the cat climbs over the back for a nice warm spot!)

On my computer the connector is blue, and is rectangular in shape and two little thumb-screws on it with a thick lead.

Thanks for your replies,

It is a boxy monitor, had quite a while now, well about 7 years.  I will moving everything away, speakers etc.
It looks like when the TV is about to go.

Will take a look at the link now.  I am just wondering whether my son has put his magnets nearby, will take a look, believe or so my hubby says can cause problems with electrical items.

Cheers for that

Sue

Leads are okay in the back screwed in.
And none of my son's magnet thingios about.

I will see how it goes and take another look tomorrow.  I hate it when electrical items go, it was the fridge last week.  When one goes.....
