Lorna,

Many thanks, but I do have those details. They are my line. It was Sarah Watt (3 at the census) who married Golderman - actually Goldsman - Cran (9 at the census).

I obtained a huge amount of data on the Watt side by stumbling across a 'distant cousin' in NZ. However the Cran side is proving a 'tough nut'. One of the oddest points is re George H. Cran being born in Canada. Another mountain to climb I suppose!!!  :(

I am on a number of Rootsweb mailing lists, but, so far, without too much luck. I had hoped to flush out another 'rellie' following the same line

Thanks again,
David Thomson

Hi,

I am searching for family of David Watt(s).

The only thing I know so far is he came from Scotland, no record of parents.  He went to Isle of Man and married Jane Qualtrough on October 20, 1808 at Rushen.

Regards,

Tim

hi monique,

not sure if you have 1881 census info, but here it is along with a couple of other things...

Dwelling:   Hill Of Corskie
   Census Place:   Cluny, Aberdeen, Scotland
Source:   FHL Film 0203453     GRO Ref    Volume 181    EnumDist 4    Page 3
   Marr   Age   Sex   Birthplace
Kenneth SUTHERLAND   M   55    M   Latheron, Caithness, Scotland
   Rel:   Head
   Occ:   Farmer 9 Acres Arable
Margaret SUTHERLAND   M   53    F   Monymusk, Aberdeen, Scotland
   Rel:   Wife
   Occ:   Farmers Wife
Kenneth SUTHERLAND   U   20    M   Monymusk, Aberdeen, Scotland
   Rel:   Son
   Occ:   Square Wright
William SUTHERLAND   U   18    M   Skene, Aberdeen, Scotland
   Rel:   Son
   Occ:   General Lab.
Helen SUTHERLAND       10    F   Cluny, Aberdeen, Scotland
   Rel:   Daur
   Occ:   Scholar
Mary Ann SMITH          3    F   Cluny, Aberdeen, Scotland
   Rel:   Boarder

KENNETH SUTHERLAND
  Spouse:  MARGARET WATT
Marriage:  11 FEB 1860   Monymusk, Aberdeen, Scotland

KENNETH SUTHERLAND
  Male
Birth:  16 JUN 1860   Monymusk, Aberdeen, Scotland
  Father:  KENNETH SUTHERLAND
  Mother:  MARGARET WATT

WILLIAM SUTHERLAND
  Male
Birth:  10 SEP 1862   Skene, Aberdeen, Scotland
  Father:  KENNETH SUTHERLAND
  Mother:  MARGARET WATT

ELIZABETH SUTHERLAND
  Female
Birth:  30 NOV 1864   Cluny, Aberdeen, Scotland
  Father:  KENNETH SUTHERLAND
  Mother:  MARGARET WATT

HELEN CHRISTINA SUTHERLAND
  Female
Birth:  12 OCT 1870   Cluny, Aberdeen, Scotland
  Father:  KENNETH SUTHERLAND
  Mother:  MARGARET WATT

Sp have one match (death records) for margaret sutherland other surnames watt in cluny, aberdeen in 1911 aged 83 years.
i didnt look at the actual cert, so cant be sure it is the correct one. although age almost fits with age at 1881 census and area where they were living at time of 1881 census also matches...
if it is the correct one, it would give you her both her parents names and also her mothers maiden surname if known by person registering her death.

there is also 1 other match (death records) for margaret sutherland other surnames watt in aberdeen, but i didnt look for district because she died in 1953 aged 81 which would make her born c1872 snd obviously isnt the correct one.

i hope this helps a little.

kind regards,
Lorna.
