Dublin Tenements - TV Series on TV3
« on: Wednesday 03 August 11 15:14 BST (UK) »
According to information from another list, there is a series of programmes about the Dublin Tenements from the 1800s onward, being broadcast on the Irish TV3 channel starting this evening at 2130.

A summary of the series can be seen at http://tvguide.tv3.ie/dgx/wbl.dll?h=69&dt=4e39a1b8&a=2&ch=302

I have contacted TV3, their respondent said that it will not be 'streamed' outside Ireland and they do not know yet if it might be 'sold' to a satellite broadcaster - History Channel perhaps? - at some future date.

Perhaps someone in Ireland might be able to let us know if we are missing something important!  ;)
Drogheda, Co Louth - Magee/McGee
Dublin City - Brady, Magee/McGee, McNally, Sheridan, Taylor
Mitchelstown, Co Cork - Hyland, Martin, Russell
Ballyporeen, Co Tipperary - Russell

There is a documentary on TV3 ,  9.30pm tonight  (3rd Aug) about the Winston family. They are living in The Tenements, Dublin. A very frugel life. It may be of interest to someone who reads this.
I have a Joseph Sutton who lived here in the 1930s, I believe.
I only wish I could receive the programe in the UK!

Thanks for the timely reminder about this programme it was well worth watching.

The programme was of further interest when I discovered the house in Henrietta Street it is centred around as my wife’s G/Grandmother Rose McLoughlin was living  at 7.16 on Census night.
My wife’s mother, Rosanna McLoughlin, two of her aunts, Mary and Celia and her Grandparents Honor and Peter were living at 13.1 Henrietta Street on that same night.

That will be great LauraMcD, thanks. I have only started on my wifes side of the family, McLoughlin / Deegan and it was great finding so many o them centred around Henrietta Street on the 1911 Census.
Congrats on your family, can you sing too? You must be deservedly as proud as punch.

Hi,
What number did your McLoughlins live in as there were a few there while we were growing up throughout the 50's ,60's and early 70's?
