Marriage look up - Bibby/Williams

Hi, Ive been given the marriage date of 30 Oct 1862 - Parish Church Liverpool between Charlotte Bibby (b 1838 Lpool) to Richard Williams.

Trying to trace Richard's parents (well, father at least!). Dont seem able to find via Ancestry Lpool marriages.

Any help greatly appreciated.

THe birth certificate should give Richard's father's name:

Marriages Dec 1862
Bibby  Charlotte    Liverpool  8b 264    
Williams  Richard     Liverpool  8b 264  

You can order this from the GRO:
www.gro.gov.uk/

As you will probably find many possible Richard Williams, it would be advisable to purchase the marriage certificate to ensure (as far as is possible  ) that you have the correct father.

The image is on Ance*try - try searching for Charlotte Ribby    instead of Bibby and it should come up.  It was at St. Pauls, Liverpool.

At least I now have something to go on for Richard's side. But suppose need to order the marriage cert which will not only confirm father but also give approx dob.

I'm afraid Ladyhawk has given you the full details of what you will find on the certificate - full age will be what is given on the GRO cert if you ordered it too.

You will be able to find it on the Ancestry Liverpool marriage records to confirm this.

I think Ladyhawk's info is all that will be on the certificate. Unfortunately age is given as "full' so 21 or over (no help at all really).

Father is Edward Williams (you'll probably be venturing into Wales soon  ), so your next step would be to try to locate them in the 1861 and earlier censuses. Keep in mind that RIchard may not be at home on the 1861 - may be working away. Good luck with it.

Seems Richard was very elusive - doesnt appear with Charlotte  on any censuses and she's widowed by 91 census. But as he's marine engineer on the son's birth cert, guess he was "at sea" (bit like me!!)
