Hatrick Name Donegal and Derry Ireland
« on: Saturday 06 August 11 19:20 BST (UK) »
Im trying to find the connection between these two men.  James Hatrick marriage cert is attached below and Samuel Hatrick marriage cert is attached.  He moved to Monaghan.  And it says his father was Samuel.

James Hatrick was born in Donegal and lived from his young live in Glebe Glen Dermot.  His father was John Hatrick and his two uncles were Joshua and James there father was James Hatrick who who died in the year 1811.  These men got farm land from William the 2.  James and Joshua stayed in Creggen and John hatrick stayed in Glendermott.  If anyone out there knows the connection of the two marriages plese let me know

Regards

Len

Len,

I can't help you with your request, but just to let you know, if you don't, that the Hatricks' still farm in Londonderry.
This would be out past the Creggan estate, my father often talked about being up at Hatrick's
[after apples i think].
Recently the family was mentioned in a newspaper article about compulsory purchase of land on the road to Strabane [ a few miles out of the City on the waterside], which they own also.
A friend in Londonderry confirmed it was the same family and that in summer you see their tractors making the journey down from the original farm across to the one that is on the  Strabane road.
Those farming families haven't moved far in the last couple of hundred so maybe they could confirm the connection.

Len,
The Public Record Office in Belfast has several Hatrick wills including some from Creggan. See http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/search_the_archives/will_calendars.htm

Hi Len,

I believe Samuel had a son called James.  I believe Samuel is my 4th great grandfather, and James my 3rd. Would love to see a copy of his marriage certificate.  Was the marriage to a Mary Ann Matson? Would the dates make James born c.1830?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Claire

yes i think the right connection  :)

the website is really interesting, great photos! Good that Samuel Hatrick snr is titled that way, i have recently seen some one use that same image for Samuel Jnr and it totally confused me.

Would love a copy of James' baptismal record if its not too much trouble;
